The loop ๐
Ciao ๐ my dear reader
Hope you are doing well and enjoying your life to the fullest ☺️
May I ask you one thing ?
Have you ever noticed yourself being stuck in some kind of loop ?
Here I am not talking about the idioms like "In the loop" , "Out of the loop" or "Human in the loop". Instead I am referring to the patterns we generally follow in our routine life.
I have chosen this topic for spreading awareness in this regard and sharing some strategies to tackle these loops which I have searched from the net. I observed few patterns around people which they couldn't recognise easily or they become habitual to these loops.
Yes in this post I am going to throw some light on The Loop . This loop could be any situation repeating itself, any repeating psychological thought (mental loop) or any path in life's journey without any exit that you follow continuously and feel sick of it without realising the actual fact. This kind of situation or path yield no progress. This is a big hurdle in somebody's life. You need to discover such repeated patterns as soon as possible and try to find some exit. It's not so easy for one to escape such loops. These repeated patterns continuously give you the same results and get you stuck in the same place. In some form at some point of life each one of us faces this "loop situation". Any person who is following the same routine for years is chained among these loops. It may be your routine job which forces you to have no choice to change your pattern or your indecisiveness in taking some steps to change your mind. This fixed loop like event keeps you so busy that you hardly notice you being stuck at a place and can't move ahead.
The feeling that everyday is a loop is a common experience which is influenced by a number factors such as lack of new experiences, loss of meaning, feelings of fear or underlying issues such as stress, anxiety, depression or burnout.
After some time when you realise yourself being stuck in some sort of situation and with a little courage you start recognising the sources of monotony. This would definitely help you to develop some strategies to tackle the situation smartly and overcome them.
Stuck in loops of action, but why?
This can happen when you are not sure about whatever you are doing, not being able to make proper decision and replaying any past event. These repetitive thoughts feel frustrating and may leave you feeling stuck. Getting stuck in a loop is a common psychological experience often described as Rumination or a Thought Loop where your mind repeatedly revisit the same thoughts or worries.
This is noticed that when you experience some unresolved issues, fear or a sense of unfulfilled life you have bigger chances to manifest this feeling of stuckness as your behavioural pattern creating behavioral loops or life loops.
Here I would like to include Aristotle's philosophical statement.
“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.”
So it's really important to address this looping condition. If your repeated habits are not healthy you should worry and try to bring crucial changes wherever you could ASAP. Since these unhealthy repeated patterns would bring your capabilities down and lowers your performance. To achieve excellence you need to inculcate positive thoughts as well as healthy habits in your routine work.
Here I am sharing some strategies to help you break free depending upon the type of loop you are experiencing. The following information I collected from the net.
Breaking Thought Loops (Mental Repetition)
Thought loops are often fuelled by anxiety and you need to work on it.
• Practice Mindfulness and Deep Breathing
Shift your focus to the present moment. When a thought loop begins, gently bring your attention to your physical surroundings or your breath. This interrupts the mental cycle and grounds you in the present moment. Take slow, deep breaths, noticing the sensation of air. This activates your parasympathetic nervous system, helping to reduce the stress which fuels the loop.
• Acknowledge and Label Thoughts As "Just Thoughts"
Acknowledge the thoughts without judgment, perhaps by internally saying, "These are just thoughts". This creates distance and prevents you from getting pulled deeper into the loop.
• Use The "Five Minute Window"
Give yourself permission to ruminate for a set time (e.g. five minutes). When the timer goes off, consciously choose to move your attention to another activity.
• Change Your Environment
A simple change of scenery can help reset your mind. Move to a different room, step outside, or rearrange your workspace.
• Engage in Physical Grounding
When thoughts spiral, focus on your physical surroundings. Notice what you can see, feel or hear. Now try to indulge yourself in some sort of physical movements like wiggle your toes, clap your hands or describe objects in the room to reconnect with the present.
• Seek Professional Help
If these loops are affecting your daily life and causing significant distress, a therapist (especially one trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or Exposure-Response Prevention) can provide tailored support. This may help you to identify and address the root causes thereby help to develop effective coping mechanism.
• Take Action (Any Action)
The feeling of being stuck often stems from inaction or overthinking ("analysis paralysis"). Taking even a small, different action, such as stretching, going for a walk, or tackling a very small task, can create momentum and break the pattern.
•Challenge Negative Thoughts
Question the validity of your repetitive thoughts. Ask yourself if the thought is a fact or an assumption, and what evidence supports or contradicts it.
• Practice Self-Compassion
Be kind to yourself about being stuck. Frustration and self-criticism only make the loop worse.
• Set Clear, Small Goals
Lack of clarity can lead to feeling stuck. Define a specific, manageable goal, and focus on the immediate steps required to achieve it, rather than the overwhelming final outcome.
• Process Emotions
Unresolved emotions often fuel these loops. Journaling or talking to a trusted friend or professional can help you process these feelings and gain closure.
Breaking Behavioral loops or Life Loops
( Feeling stuck in a Rut )
When your life feels repetitive and unfulfilled, you need action to create change.
• Identify The Root Cause
Ask yourself what you think has gone wrong or what you are truly wanting. The loop may stem from an unresolved fear, lack of clarity or an unaddressed trauma.
• Introduce Small Changes
Break your routine in minor ways to stimulate your mind and encourage growth.
a) Take a different route to work
b) Try a new restaurant or a new food item.
c) Pick up a new book in a genre you never read.
d) Volunteer or take a class to learn a new skill.
• Decide And Act
In many cases, the main issue is a lack of decision or action. Make a conscious decision to pursue a goal or close an "open loop" ( like an unfinished project or an unresolved conflict )and take immediate action however small.
• Build A New Habit
Replace the old, comfortable patterns with new, healthier ones. Start small and gradually increase over time.
• Connect With Others
Talk about what's on your mind with a trusted friend, family member or a professional. Gaining a fresh perspective can offer new solutions.
• Prioritise Self Care
Ensure adequate sleep, a healthy diet and regular exercise. These help manage stress and improve your ability to cope.
Here I am sharing the link to one of my friend's YouTube video in which he suggests ways to improve your sleep pattern. You may go through it for more information.

By acknowledging the pattern and taking deliberate, often small steps to interrupt it, you can regain control and move forward.

It's a known fact that to grow further ,you need to come out of your comfort zone. Challenge yourself, then only you achive further. Doing the things daliy ( in the loop) keeps you stagnant in your life. And it's the body and the mind, which always want to be in loop of routines as,they feel it comfortable.
ReplyDeleteYes I agree with you ๐ hope my blog could help readers to recognise their loops and they could work on these unhealthy loops.
